In the midst of the global battle for semiconductor supplies, ASML is lobbying the US to ease export restrictions to China. But for Washington, this is out of the question, as the New Zealand group is the main supplier of machine tools to Taiwan, the chip-making king.
The technology developed by French computer vision start-up Prophesee, which is already receiving funding from Chinese investment company Sinovation Ventures, has now attracted interest in the United States. So much so that it is currently being looked at by the CIA's high tech investment arm, In-Q-Tel.
