Across the globe, spies gather in inconspicuous dens to meet contacts and hold discreet conversations. This week, Intelligence Online explores the Boukhara restaurants in Paris. These two establishments serving traditional Uzbek cuisine are well known to the Uzbek embassy, as well as to the business community and presidential circle.
Should they get bored of French cuisine while in Paris, officers from Uzbekistan's national security service (SGB) can easily find the tastes of home at one of the Boukhara restaurants. One is on Rue de Trévise, in the 9th arrondissement, and the other on Rue Amelot, in the 11th arrondissement (currently closed for renovation).
