US and UK consultants stranded in UAE for months amid money laundering probe

A corruption complaint filed in 2024, relating to events at the now-defunct Abraaj investor group, saw scores of expatriates subject to movement and asset restrictions. Two years later, sources close to the case say authorities in Sharjah have cleared all previously-named suspects, effectively ending the probe.

The major downsizing of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, spearheaded by its head Tulsi Gabbard, has also hit the fight against drug trafficking, despite the US administration setting the issue as a top priority.

Long overshadowed in Kyiv by Ukrainian FPV drones, US dronemaker AeroVironment's Switchblade is now back in use in the SBU's special operations. That partnership builds on networks established around the Chosen Company unit and has turned the Alpha special operations unit into a testing ground for the Switchblade's cutting edge features.

The Chinese Communist Party is preparing to deploy elite police units in Central Europe to protect Chinese interests. This move, which comes as tensions between China and the European Union are running high, will also serve to establish contingents to monitor and influence the region.
