After a morning meeting on 4 March at the presidential palace in Qasr al-Shati, it was in a private room at Japanese restaurant Zuma, a twenty-minute drive away, that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and UAE president Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan (MbZ) celebrated the warming of ties between both countries. Under the previous Italian governments led by Giuseppe Conte and Mario Draghi, relations between Rome and Abu Dhabi had all but frozen.
