Across the globe, spies gather in inconspicuous dens to meet contacts and hold discreet conversations. This week, Intelligence Online visits a high-end Georgian restaurant in Moscow, where a French diplomatic delegation sent to revive mediation efforts with Vladimir Putin dined in February.
Last month, Moscow's elegant restaurant Darbazi, well-loved by members of the Georgian diaspora visiting the Russian capital, hosted diners less accustomed to its delectable Georgian cuisine. On the evening of 3 February, regulars and a some of the few French nationals still living in Moscow spotted a small diplomatic delegation from Paris. The group was on a mission for French President Emmanuel Macron to attempt to rekindle mediation channels with Vladimir Putin.
