Across the globe, spies love to gather in inconspicuous dens to meet contacts and hold discreet conversations. This week, Intelligence Online peruses the bookshelves of a small, discreet publishing house very much in vogue in the world of French intelligence.

French book publisher Mareuil Éditions has a modest annual turnover of just under €1m and keeps a low profile. However, it continues to make inroads into the realm of French intelligence. On 16 June the company will re-issue a book about the French Department of Territorial Surveillance (DST, the forerunner of France's DGSI domestic intelligence agency),
