US Special Operations Command

The United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM), which oversees Delta Force, the Navy SEALs and the Green Berets, was established in 1987 a few years after the failure of Operation Eagle Claw. Today is practically a miniature department of defence in its own right with its own budget. The main component of USSOCOM is Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC).
