European court weakens France's defence against 'La Quadrature du Net' ruling

The Court of Justice of the EU has ruled that a national court cannot decide alone to derogate from European law in the name of a state's constitutional principles. This was one of France's lines of defence against the "La Quadrature du Net" (LQDN) European ruling prohibiting the bulk collection and storage of traffic data.
