EU's discreet outsourcing of fight against fake news gets messy

The European External Action Service (EEAS) has since 2022 been discreetly subcontracting some of its monitoring and reporting on foreign news interference to Cronos Europa, resulting in apparently erratic and politicised reports produced amid internal conflict.
