Across the globe, spies gather in inconspicuous dens to meet contacts and hold discreet conversations. This week, Intelligence Online explores café-restaurant Michel, where the last remaining operators can maintain Franco-Russian business friendships.
Just a few blocks from Russian government offices, café-restaurant Michel remains a favourite haunt of Moscow-based businesspeople, particularly members of the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI France-Russia, or CCFR) whose next members' dinner it will host on Thursday 19 October.
The small restaurant, which has around ten tables, is owned by Frenchman Michel Chassagnard, whose family is also well integrated in Moscow's French networks.
