    Maldives funds lobbying effort to disrupt UK's draft Diego Garcia deal

    Disclosures show a London lobbying firm is being paid by the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Maldives to increase awareness of the Maldives's claim to the Chagos Archipelago. The territory, holding a UK-US military base, was almost ceded to Mauritius last year before objections by President Donald Trump scuttled the deal.
