France's Nouveau Front Populaire unenthused about intelligence and strategic affairs

The left-wing alliance that won the most seats in France's snap elections has little interest in intelligence and strategic affairs. But the composition of parliamentary groups is an issue of prime importance as it includes the appointment of two members of the oversight commission for intelligence-gathering techniques.

While BAE Systems' Typhoon fighter jet is the favourite to renew the Saudi fleet, the kingdom's air force is still looking at France's Rafales. The Saudis are being patient, betting on a Donald Trump comeback that could pave the way for the F-35.
