Tracking Russian assets: corporate intelligence firms on standby as courts prove hesitant over sanctions issue

Courts in London and New York are passing the buck on the matter of determining whether assets being tracked by Moscow should be subject to Western sanctions. This is having an impact on private investigations used to assist legal proceedings.

Born out of World War II special services and Resistance networks, the DGSE depicts itself as the direct heir of the Gaullist Bureau Central de Renseignement et d'Action. Some former service members dispute this lineage, pointing to Paul Paillole's influence instead.
