According to information obtained by Intelligence Newsletter from sources close to the American CIA and FBI, Western intelligence services are increasingly concerned over the emergence of old school hard-liners in position of control over the former KGB. American intelligence agencies are worried about attempts to turn Russian security into a super state security bureaucracy by merging the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) with political police and counter-intelligence forces formerly known as the KGB, and the inability of the new Russian parliament to quickly block the merger.(...)
